The Anchor Caravan Park started in 1971. The site was carved out of virgin boggy farmland by George Searle and his family especially his son, Chris. The Searle family came originally from Reading in England but became so captivated by Ireland that they became Irish citizens. Now Chris and his family, wife Anne and children Jennifer and Peter, are the hands-on owners and proprietors of the site. So, in a very real sense, this is a family run site.
Over the years a policy of continuous improvement has constantly added to the facilities available for the discerning camper and caravanner. The standard of facilities is now so high that the Anchor Caravan Park is now recommended by the major European Caravan Clubs, e.g. ADAC, ACSI, DCU, KOSMO, NKC, DCC, ITB, ICC, CC, ALAN ROGERS, Bord Failte 4 Star
